VACUUM FORMING Vacuum Forming ·The vacuum forming department takes the corrected positive plaster casts and molds the arch support shell of the orthotic to the cast. ·The materials used to make true custom orthotics are all thermal moldable. Our technicians in this department: ·Measure the cast and cut an appropriate sized plastic or accommodative shell material according to what has been prescribed. ·The material is then heated in an oven until the material is flexible enough to be accurately molded. ·The heated material is then placed on the cast as a vacuum press rapidly pulls the material over the cast and holds it there until it has cooled. ·The material then must cool. It is now molded to the exact shape of the cast. |
